Interim Chief Amie Brown told the Lodi Area EMS Commission on Feb. 11 that building humidification is functioning, vehicles had recent maintenance and the commission should expect the old ambulance and unused equipment to be moved soon.
Brown said she had reviewed Wisconsin Surplus’s website and learned municipalities are exempt from certain storage charges; she will prepare the old ambulance to leave along with unused equipment. She reported maintenance work: F550 had maintenance and a fire extinguisher mounted; F450 received valve stem extenders to allow checking rear dual tire pressure and the rear brakes were replaced by Bushnell, with front brakes scheduled at the next maintenance.
Brown said she signed a website development agreement with Daniel Schultz and the site development is underway. She noted the commission is migrating from a .com to a .gov domain and that Mary Wetzel accessed the NAS, which currently contains no data; staff will evaluate using it for on-site network storage.
Staffing and training plans were reviewed: recruitment for the remaining full-time and casual positions begins March 1, with interviewers selected by the officers and the chief. Brown described personnel training milestones: Russell Steen preparing for paramedic school on his return from the Appalachian Trail; Lt. Keri McKee and Jason Renz are scheduled to begin paramedic and AEMT training this fall, respectively; Amanda Landphier is already a paramedic on staff and Sophia is beginning her first EMS position. Brown said the first officers’ meeting will be held on Monday before staff meeting and training and that the medical director will attend.
Brown also said the commission will consider handbook provisions on time off and compensation; she noted holiday pay is currently $150 for a 12‑hour working holiday and suggested the commission review total compensation. Additional payroll budget details were to be shown at the meeting screen or printed and will be presented again next month.
The commission did not take final action on staffing or budget changes; those items will return to a future agenda.
