Muscatine County receives updates on road projects, Deep Lakes lightning damage and parks improvements

Parks staff member Katie reported that a lightning strike at the Deep Lakes cabins on June 8 damaged the meter and produced intermittent electrical problems; Muscatine Power & Water repaired the meter and staff are pursuing insurance and working with auditors on claim paperwork. Katie also reported progress on a parks maintenance building (skin removed, building waterproofed, steel to be installed) and that a disc‑golf course has its baskets installed and signs are being ordered.
Technical notes discussed included a description of a fiberglass pipe‑lining technique used to repair a separated pipe on Sweetland Road (UV‑cured resin inside an inflatable liner) and continuing concerns about erosion near a guardrail that staff are evaluating for permanent solutions.
