Annette Island school board swears in members and approves leadership reorganization

The Annette Island School District board convened at 4:03 p.m., swore in re-elected members and approved a reorganization of board officers.

Mister Lindsey led members through the oath of office, administering the pledge to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States” and to “faithfully, impartially, discharge my duty as a school board member.” Board members congratulated those sworn in after the ceremony.

Why it matters: Leadership assignments determine committee roles and who chairs future meetings and agenda discussions. At this session the board recorded new officer assignments on the public record and took the formal vote needed to make them official.

During reorganization discussion the outgoing chair said they would step back and offered options for filling the president, treasurer and secretary roles. Board members agreed on a set of assignments and approved them by motion, second and voice vote. The official motion to adopt the reorganization was put on the record and carried.

The board also confirmed scheduling for January business and work-session planning at the meeting; members noted the next regular meeting date and planned work-session topics that will include policy readings and the superintendent evaluation process.

The board adjourned following the approved agenda and scheduled items for the next meeting.
