Froedtert South, Pleasant Prairie honor EMS and fire crews after successful resuscitation

The Village Board began its Sept. 8 meeting by recognizing a Pleasant Prairie fire and rescue crew for a successful resuscitation that began March 27.
Chief Repke introduced the presentation from Froedtert South. Jeff Flash, an EMS liaison with Froedtert South and a police and fire commission member, described the call: field providers identified a STEMI (a type of heart attack), initiated a straight-to-cath protocol, and then managed a cardiac arrest in the field before the patient regained signs of circulation. Flash named the crew members on scene and noted the squad crew observed the subsequent catheterization so they could see the clinical outcome.
Terry Harrell, identified as Froedtert South's senior director of nursing, urged residents to learn bystander CPR and said the patient is doing well following follow-up care. Both hospital and village leaders credited repeated joint training and an established partnership that provides no-cost continuing education to first responders.
Village President Dave Klimesh and board members thanked the crew, Froedtert South staff, and the fire and EMS teams for their professionalism and the ongoing training that supports life-saving care in the community.
