Prairie Springs ballfield work advancing; synthetic turf delivery for Fields 1–2 expected next week

Rec programming staff updated the commission on Oct. 7 on ongoing ballfield improvements at Prairie Springs Park. Staff said H and H Construction has installed fence posts and completed grading and drainage work; dugout pads are poured and the stone base is prepared for synthetic turf installation.
"Turf delivery, synthetic turf delivery for Fields 1 And 2 will happen next week," the presenter said, noting that installation will follow base preparation. Staff added that dugouts, backstop walls and protective netting have been ordered but are subject to a 10–12 week fabrication and delivery timeline.
Commissioners asked whether fields would be available on a rolling basis; staff said Fields 1 and 2 could be used programmatically if work on Fields 3 and 4 is delayed into early spring. Staff also confirmed additional north‑side parking has been completed and retention‑pond work has been squared away to support events and tournaments.
The presenter described next steps as finishing fine stone compaction, completing fences and receiving turf deliveries, and said the project team expected to finish major work to align with spring programming if weather cooperates.
No formal vote was taken on the project at this meeting; staff answered clarifying questions and will continue to report progress to the commission.
