Randleman Board approves consent agenda, agrees to library staff-development closures and holds closed personnel session

The Randleman Board of Aldermen convened Jan. 7 with Mayor Gary B. Betts presiding and approved the consent agenda by unanimous vote. Alderwoman Melissa Allred Blalock moved to approve the consent agenda as submitted; Alderwoman Nancy Henderson seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
During manager and mayor updates, the board recorded requests related to closures for library staff development. Randolph County Public Library Director Ross Holt requested that all county branches close Feb. 21, 2025, for the annual Randolph County Public Library staff-development day. Library Director Donna Toomes requested that the Randleman Public Library close for staff development on May 14 and Aug. 21, 2025; the board gave consensus to allow those closures.
The board then voted unanimously to enter a closed session to discuss personnel pursuant to North Carolina General Statute N.C.G.S. §143-318.11(a)(6); the motions to enter and later to close closed session and re-enter open session were all approved without recorded dissent. After returning to open session the board adjourned; Mayor Pro-Tempore Michael Dawkins made the motion to adjourn and Alderman Steve Grooms seconded.
No personnel details were discussed in open session and the meeting minutes note only that the closed-session action occurred pursuant to the cited statute. The meeting concluded with the mayor and city clerk signing the minutes.
