Flat Rock council hires Land of Sky consultant, approves second part-time park ranger

The Village of Flat Rock Council voted June 11 to hire a Land of Sky Regional Council representative for Planning Board support and to create a second part-time park ranger position for the parks department.
Council Member Jeter moved to hire a Land of Sky consultant not to exceed $4,000 to assist the Planning Board in reviewing Ordinance No. 80 (Unsafe Structures and Properties); the motion was seconded by Council Member Carpenter and carried unanimously. Mayor Anne G. Coletta was authorized to sign the contract.
On park staffing, Park Director Michael Dages presented a position description for a second part-time ranger matching the existing position’s schedule and responsibilities and proposed a target start date of July 9, 2026. Council Member Bass moved to create and advertise the position; the motion passed unanimously.
Council also noted the revised Ordinance No. 91 (Park Rules) has been sent to the village attorney for review and deferred action on that amendment to a later date.
