The official said Stevens passed the state-required peace officer certification exam on Friday, July 3. "Officer Stevens brings with him TASER certification, CPR certification, crisis intervention," the official said, and noted Stevens is a second-generation member of the West Milton Police Division; his father, Lieutenant Jason Stevens, has served nearly 20 years.
Stevens was sworn in according to law and will enter a 12-week field training phase with a seasoned officer, officials said.
What happens next: Officer Stevens will undergo field training over the next 12 weeks and will begin patrol duties as training and certification timelines permit.
