Western Rockingham Chamber president outlines membership growth, new nonprofit plan and events

Dillon said Walmart recently rejoined the Chamber and that the organization hired Maria Bridges to assist with website management and marketing. She reported 32 new Chamber members this year compared with 25 the prior year and thanked local municipal staff, including a noted contribution by Chief Knight, for ongoing partnership.
Dillon announced several upcoming initiatives: the Chamber’s annual dinner on April 16 at White Oak Terrace (limited seating), participation in a countywide chili cook-off organized by the Roco Is Hong Foundation (noon–2 p.m.; $25 registration; $100 prize), and the launch of a youth leadership program in partnership with local schools that will include industry tours and job-shadowing opportunities.
She also described plans to form the Western Rockingham Alliance, a nonprofit entity under the Chamber’s umbrella intended to expand access to grant funding and support community projects such as beautification, murals and other revitalization efforts. Dillon said leaders are recruiting board members with staggered terms and emphasized the importance of volunteer support and regional collaboration.
Councilmembers did not take formal action on the update; the remarks were informational.
