Town staff reports demolition complete at 130 Flower Street under FY25 CDBG grant

Town staff briefed the Mayor and Council on progress under the FY25 Maryland Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award. Staff reported that asbestos permitting delayed the abatement but that abatement and demolition work at 130 Flower Street were completed as of June 30; the construction contractor completed final inspection on July 1.
Sarah, who presented the update, said the town was able to expand the scope of work within the $297,000 total grant allocation and that pre-construction design work has been prepared with assistance from architect Danielle Haley. Staff noted a USDA earmark is in hand or expected imminently to fund the next steps of rehabilitation and preconstruction activity.
The public hearing for the grant record was opened and closed with no substantive public comment on the demolition work; council members thanked staff for the progress report and for keeping grant spending compliant with federal requirements.
