Resident Jorge Ballivian had earlier asked the council about crosswalks and signage near the park to slow traffic; that concern informed the discussion about pedestrian safety for events held near the park.
The council also approved other routine business during the meeting, including staffing actions and park mulch; the event approval was one of several actions taken at the May 18 meeting.
