State DOT tells town no traffic signal is required now; commissioners asked to review

"They went down and did another assessment based on the buildings that they have there now and the traffic it's gonna generate, and they determined that we're still okay," a commissioner said, summarizing the DOT message that the site does not presently meet the technical requirements for a signal.
The DOT requested the town concur with that assessment or indicate if it disagrees. Commissioners noted they had received only an email, not a full packet, and said DOT’s reassessment indicated the signal is not required at this stage. One commissioner observed the proximity to Deming Road and asked whether the state’s traffic thresholds adequately reflect local concerns.
What happens next: Staff said the town will review the DOT email and determine whether to respond or request a meeting; no executive session was scheduled and the board moved on to adjourn.
