Milnor sheriff reports burglary suspects, urges better-resolution cameras; maintenance seeks Bobcat blower quote

Sheriff Travis Paeper told the Milnor City Council on Feb. 9 that January was "a decent month" for the department and that investigators have identified two suspects in the Crossroads Electric burglary. Paeper recommended the city upgrade its security cameras to models with better resolution to improve investigations.

Ryan Smith, who reviewed the maintenance report, told council that a blower attachment for the citys Bobcat would cost about $8,109.99. The council approved a motion directing Smith to do further research on blower specifications and cost and to present a firm quote at the March meeting (Ost/Ferderer, unanimous).

Council members also discussed routine operational items including parking for Bingo, the possibility of installing a streetlight by the daycare, and sanding the alley behind Humps. Council member Jasmine Smith raised a separate concern about corn chaff from the local elevator, saying it was "not only messy, but it could pose a health hazard to those with breathing problems," and Mayor Dusek suggested inviting elevator operators to the next meeting to seek remedies.

No votes or formal actions were recorded on camera purchases, parking logistics, the daycare streetlight, alley sanding or the corn-chaff complaint; council assigned staff follow-up on some items.
