Town Administrator Gregg Whitehead announced at the Aug. 12 meeting that he will retire at the end of the year and will advertise the Town Administrator position and assist with the transition.
Board members, including Aldermen Marilyn Bunce, Tom Brown, Kandy Koonce and Paul Conner, thanked Whitehead for his long service and said they hope for an overlap period so the incoming administrator can transition smoothly.
On administrative business, Whitehead presented Resolution 2025-04 to appoint Patricia Allen as Deputy Finance Officer with authority to sign checks and create purchase orders when Finance Officer Erin Juhls is absent or unavailable. Alderman Kent Painter moved to approve, Alderman Tom Brown seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. Town Clerk Erin Juhls administered the oath of office to Patricia Allen during the meeting.
Why it matters: The town will begin recruitment for its top administrator and has authorized a deputy to ensure continuity of financial operations during absences.
