Pownal voters approved a series of capital appropriations. Article 22 authorized $162,000 for the Capital Project Fund. Article 23 authorized up to $276,500 from the Capital Projects Fund to purchase a public works excavator ($232,500) and a flail mower attachment ($44,000).
Several residents asked whether the timing was appropriate given recent tax increases and whether trade-ins or other cost offsets were available. Select Board members and staff explained the purchases would be paid from existing reserve funds and not from a new tax assessment. The motions were carried as presented.
