The Recreation Department recorded a facilities update at its April 21 meeting: Ben is scheduled to break down and remove the old stage this Friday, and the Building Inspector has approved the new stage project. Dig Safe has performed a site evaluation. The committee plans a new 8 x 20 stage and aims for completion by the Spring Gala; finish options include lattice and flower boxes along the front of the stage, and the committee discussed using long boxes (three to five depending on size).
The minutes also record a floor request from committee member Christie West that G&B continue maintaining the front of the Daland Memorial Library building. The Recreation Committee agreed to reach out to SHS to see if the school will run a volunteer day this year and accepted a request to assist in promoting additional America 250 Committee events.
The committee set its next meeting for May 19 to follow up on maintenance and staging progress. No formal vote totals or budget figures were recorded in the minutes for the stage removal or replacement; the Building Inspector’s approval and Dig Safe evaluation were noted as administrative clearances in the record.
