Mont Vernon library plans summer reading, Senior Social Hour and outreach to high school

Mont Vernon — At the April 21 trustees meeting, Library Director Bonnie Angulas outlined a schedule of programs and outreach as the library prepares to expand services in the renovated space.
Angulas said this week is National Library Week and the library has three events planned; Wizarding Week at the school is scheduled for next week. She described the summer reading program theme (dinosaurs), the return of adult Craft Night, and a possible 25-person cap for the Cookbook Club to manage space. Angulas also said the Seed Library has begun and that Hooks and Needles will return to the library when the room is reliably warm.
Angulas said she hopes to start programs specifically for teens and seniors and will actively reach out to the high school next year to offer the library as a presentation space; three SHS senior projects are slated to be presented at the library in the coming week. She noted that Senior Social Hour begins the day after the meeting, will be senior-led, run from 11 a.m. to noon and include cookies.
Angulas also reported work is underway to procure patio furniture and to address lighting in the adult room; she said these items should be resolved in the coming months. The library received notice that the Daland Library has been awarded another Humanities-to-Go program titled "Who is John Stark" for June 20.
The trustees did not take formal action on programming beyond approving a short-term program-room request elsewhere on the agenda.
