Town manager said the embankment beside the pump station "has been creaking on us" and described a plan to install rock-filled baskets and new guide rails as a temporary repair. "The cost is gonna be $30,395 to do all the work there," the town manager said, adding the project will be covered from sewer-improvement funds that currently have roughly $170,000 unspent.
Council members discussed bid details and procurement. Staff told the council that Premier Group’s bid bundled pumps and rails while Main Street Builders priced rails separately; Main Street’s proposal includes stainless-steel rails intended to last longer than the previous material. One council member asked whether the contractor price included rails; staff confirmed Main Street’s price does include rails.
The council voted to authorize town staff to sign the contract and proceed with the work. The town manager said the planned fixes would serve as an interim measure expected to last several years while the town considers a longer-term reconstruction.
Next steps: staff will execute the contract with Main Street Builders and return to the council with updates on schedule and any required follow-up expenditures.
