At its July 13 meeting the Silver Creek School Corporation board approved Change Order No. 6, the final transaction on the auditorium and band room addition contract, reporting a contractual credit of $289,896.67 for unused allowances.
Doctor Balmer described the change order as a 100% credit: “The credit is $289,896.67…and that's for unused allowances.” Board members asked whether the credit must be spent; Balmer said the amount can be carried over into other capital-fund work and that he had already budgeted for it.
The consent agenda — which included financial items and multiple personnel appointments and resignations across certified and classified rosters — was presented by Doctor Briggs. Miss McDaniel moved to bring the consent agenda forward and Mister Basham seconded; the board approved the consent agenda by a 5-0 vote.
The board also welcomed Daniel Collins as the district's new director of facilities. Collins introduced himself and said he had served as facility manager at Kaiser Home Support Services in New Albany for three years and described experience managing large properties and supporting programs such as a homeless veteran program.
The board discussed smaller upcoming capital projects (including a planned weight-room expansion) and noted the district’s work with engineers to refine mechanical specs and realize potential savings.
The board approved the change order by a 5-0 vote.
