Select Board approves cemetery care spending and signs Sept. 1 state primary warrant

The Wrentham Select Board on July 14 approved two expenditures from the cemetery perpetual care trust fund and authorized signature of the state primary election warrant.
Town manager Mike King explained the perpetual care trust funds derive from lot purchase fees and that earnings may be expended for cemetery maintenance. The board approved up to $982 for treatment of a large copper beech tree in Center Cemetery and separately approved up to $12,950 to remove 11 dead trees identified as maintenance and safety concerns. Both motions passed on 5–0 roll call votes.
The board also signed the warrant for the Sept. 1, 2026 state primary, which the town clerk noted is issued by the state and adapted for Wrentham. Electronic signatures are permitted for the warrant. The motion to sign the warrant carried 5–0.
Chair and members characterized the cemetery work as routine maintenance to preserve safety and historic burial grounds.
