Wrentham board approves National Grid petition to pave way for proposed EV‑charging lot

The Wrentham Select Board on July 14 voted to approve a National Grid pole‑location (poll) petition on Madison Street intended to support preparatory electrical work for a conceptually proposed electric vehicle charging parking lot at 20 Ledgeview Way.
Town staff said the petition is preliminary and does not approve site development; planning and formal town approvals would still be required. Town manager Mike King told the board the poll location is “on Madison Street over by Ledgeview,” and that National Grid is the petitioner. King added that the town would still require a formal planning review if a development application is submitted.
No members of the public offered comments during the hearing. After brief questions from board members about sightlines and aesthetics, and staff confirmation there were no department concerns, Selectman Bill Harrington moved to approve the petition; Selectman Jim Anderson seconded. The motion passed on a 5–0 roll call vote.
The approval allows National Grid to proceed with utility preparatory work; it does not authorize construction of the EV‑charging lot or any site plan approvals, which remain subject to the town’s formal review process.
