Middletown council declines to adopt policy barring meetings on Sept. 11

Opponents cited the council’s rules of procedure and urged that committees and commissions themselves should review meeting dates and times; one member noted the council’s rules require unanimity for certain changes to committee meeting times. After discussion and roll‑call votes the motion failed (recorded roll call produced a result that did not reach passage). The clerk recorded the outcome in the minutes.
Council members said committees remain free to schedule observances and to adjust start times where appropriate; the resolution will not be adopted.
