Code enforcement committee authorizes abatement and clean-and-lien at 89 Fisher Road

The mayor's Code Enforcement Committee voted unanimously at 9:10 a.m. Sept. 25 to authorize the Office of General Counsel to issue a notice of abatement for long grass at 89 Fisher Road and to pursue clean-and-lien procedures if the owner does not comply.

The action followed a Land Use Department report that the property was cited previously for garbage and junk and that the outstanding violation cited in the failure-to-pay notice is tall grass. Tom (Land Use staff) moved to authorize the abatement and the chair acknowledged a second; the committee approved the motion without opposition.

Committee members framed the vote as the routine next enforcement step when an owner fails to remediate a code violation and does not pay fines. The chair said the office will issue the notice "shortly, probably early next week," and that the city may arrange the cleanup and place a lien on the property if the owner does not act.

Tom said the property has a history of noncompliance and that Land Use will continue to monitor related appeal calendars and inspection results to ensure follow-through.

The committee did not identify the property owner on the record; the committee directed staff to proceed with the abatement process and report back on any subsequent developments at the next meeting.
