Milton updates procurement policy, authorizes code-enforcement scope and EPIC letter of support

At its April 14 meeting, the Milton Town Council approved administrative policy changes and authorized a code-enforcement contractor to begin work.
Mayor Angela Upchurch read the Ace Code Enforcement scope of work; Commissioner Danny Cash moved and the council approved allowing Ace to begin its scope of work. The council also voted to update its procurement policy to align with federal changes increasing the simplified acquisition threshold to $15,000, adjusting Milton's delegated purchasing limits accordingly.
The council read and adopted an updated letter of intent from the Environmental Policy Innovation Center (EPIC) supporting aspects of the town's wastewater-plant project — including site planning and expanded well capacity — and approved submitting related documents. Commissioners approved placing an ad in the Caswell Business Directory and approved the documents permitting registration of project materials online.
Commissioner Sherri Garrard moved to adopt the EPIC letter and procurement updates; motions carried unanimously. Councilors noted the procurement threshold change applies to purchase-contract categories and will govern how future bids and contract awards proceed.
The ordinances for parking, alcoholic beverages, noise and planning-board terms were reviewed and scheduled for further public reading and consideration.
