Personnel committee reviews multiple vacancies, asks for clearer staffing report
Summary
Keystone Central SD personnel committee on July 15 reviewed current open positions including a benefits secretary resignation and long-term leaves, and asked staff to add columns (last day, years of service) to a monthly personnel report to avoid confusion about posted dates.

The Keystone Central School District personnel committee reviewed a list of open positions and asked administrators to make the monthly personnel report clearer.
Chair Chris asked staff to update the committee on vacancies, and Justin (staff member) listed openings including a music teacher, a Title I interventionist, an emotional-support position, a 4th-grade opening at Rob, an art teacher at Bucktail and a middle-school reading interventionist. Justin said several of those are "anticipated" departures because staff have told the district they will take jobs elsewhere but have not yet filed formal resignations while they await hiring-board approvals at the new districts.
Elizabeth, who identified herself during the meeting, urged the committee to add a column showing each departing employee's last day of employment and years of service so that the report does not read as though positions were vacant earlier than they actually were. "If anyone looks at this report," she said, "it looks to me like we did not have an LCN assistant in April" — a misreading she said a date-of-exit column would fix.
Justin confirmed the district posts positions as "open until filled" and that, where the outgoing employee remains through a planned date, the new hire's start date would be timed to that transition: "We're not going to have 2 food service supervisors... that's a position that we want to advertise early because I'm not sure that there's a lot of individuals out there," he said.
The committee treated the benefits-secretary vacancy as urgent after the incumbent gave two weeks' notice; members agreed to advertise immediately and attempt interviews next week. Justin noted the job requires training on district health-insurance processes rather than a certification.
The committee asked staff to turn the personnel listing into a year-to-date board report that would include ending salary, years of service and whether a departing employee qualifies for post‑employment health-care benefits. Staff said they would add fields for health-care eligibility and exiting salary and keep a running sheet beginning July 1.
The committee set a plan to post the benefits position immediately and to bring the revised personnel-report template back for future review.
