Lyme Recreation Commission designates snack shack as fundraiser and OKs minor repairs, including an Eagle Scout window project

The Lyme Recreation Commission voted to operate the snack shack as a fundraising entity supporting all Recreation Commission youth sports, approved a small repair and painting appropriation, and noted planned volunteer improvements including an Eagle Scout service-window project.

Commissioners said the snack shack will be used to raise funds for youth sports and emphasized the need to track building use. Members noted New Hampshire Homestead food-licensing rules will limit some items that can be sold from the facility. The minutes record that a resident has volunteered to organize the snack shack for the 2026 baseball season.

As part of physical improvements, the minutes say Rowen Goss and Andrew Fraser — who identifies himself in a submitted letter as a member of Hanover Troop 45 and an Eagle Scout candidate — will cut a service window opening. Curtis Shepard has material (formica) to make easy-to-clean shelves and Kim Essensa plans to supply a hot-dog roller. The commission approved up to $350 for painting and repairs after a motion by Michael Hinsley, seconded by Kim Essensa; the motion passed unanimously.

A submitted letter included in the minutes shows Andrew Fraser seeking Selectboard approval for the Eagle Scout project and offering to meet with town representatives to review plans. The commission asked that the old sign remain in place until a disposition decision is made and listed several preseason cleanup tasks that volunteers will address before the season opens.
