The town manager announced that Michael Whalen will retire at the end of December and praised Whalen's long service to the town. "Michael Whalen is gonna retire at the end of December," the manager said, calling him an 'indispensable' asset and thanking him for his work.
To replace capacity and provide redundancy, the manager said the town will advertise for a third operator and highlighted that existing staff members are working toward required Class 3 certifications for plant operation. He noted the county and nearby towns are also advertising for operators and that the town may need to advertise more than once to attract candidates.
Council members thanked Whalen for his years of service; staff said they will proceed with recruitment and return with hiring recommendations.
