Town manager outlines fence plan for downtown detention-pond area and Farmers Market access
Summary
A contractor recommended against a concrete footer and proposed installing a flat-top, 6-foot fence in 8-foot sections near the detention pond and brick building; the manager said the fence should not block the planned Farmers Market entrance and the quote may decrease after on-site review.

The town manager reported on conversations with a fence contractor about downtown revitalization and a fence near the detention pond and brick building. The contractor advised against pouring a footer because it can cause problems over time and instead proposed a flat-top fence built in 8-foot sections. "He said that it's going to look great. It's a flat top fence. It's gonna be 6 foot tall, 8 foot, sections," the manager said.
Manager and council members discussed ensuring the fence leaves room for a Farmers Market entrance; the manager said the contractor indicated the quote could fall once staff and council clarified exact locations and asked the contractor further questions on site.
No formal action was taken; the council asked staff to continue coordinating with the contractor and to return with firm scheduling and cost details.
