Council to issue second notices for clutter and trash; Jan. 1 compliance deadline set

The town manager said code-enforcement letters are ready and that property owners cited for clutter and trash will receive a second notice as part of due process. "They will be given till January 1 to clean up their property. If not, they will receive a citation under ord ordinance," the manager said.
He said the Elm Street property and a parsonage are among the properties under notice and that he had sent two separate letters (one for clutter and one for trash) attaching the ordinances the owners are alleged to have violated.
Under the revised trash ordinance, the manager said the town manager has authority to discontinue trash service for noncompliant properties in addition to citing owners; council members discussed court follow-up if owners do not comply.
