Council hears report on two water main leaks and explores interconnect options

The town manager reported that crews responded to two recent water-main leaks, including one on an 8-inch main that required pumping through the night. "We've had 2 leaks, both of them on mains," the town manager said, adding crews worked through freezing conditions to restore service.
He said the town is operating on a spring pump for now and that the water plant is showing its age: "That water plant is getting some age on it," he said, and proposed the council consider an interconnect or other options to bolster reliability.
The manager said he had contacted AUP to finalize approval for the well pump and that AUP indicated they would be on site the following Monday or Tuesday, once the town had a ditch and electrical preparations ready for the inspector.
Council members praised the field crew for quick response and noted the issue is likely to recur unless the town invests in redundancy or upgraded infrastructure. No formal motion was taken; staff said the topic will be brought back for further planning.
