At the Aug. 8 meeting, the Westchase Community Association board acted on several Swim & Tennis Committee recommendations.
The board voted 6-0 to appoint Kristen Deangelo to the vacant Swim & Tennis Committee seat, with the term expiring in December 2025 (motion by Terry Boyd; second by Jack Maurer). The board also voted 6-0 to authorize approaching Future Energy Solutions to perform an assessment of the Countryway facilities’ utilities with the intent to review results and consider a contract after board review (motion by Terry Boyd; second by Jack Maurer).
On operational hours, the board approved extending weekend opening time for Countryway courts to 7 a.m. once the facility manager, Dwight Kilgore, secures staffing for those hours. The motion (moved by Terry Boyd; seconded by Jack Maurer) carried 6-0. For safety, the board amended Section 4.2 of the Facility Rules (Lightning Policy) so that a 30-minute closure period restarts after the last observed lightning strike; that motion (moved by Rick Goldstein; seconded by Jim Brinker) also carried 6-0.
The minutes record the actions, movers and seconders and record each vote as carried 6-0 but do not provide direct quotations or a roll-call of individual director votes. Implementation tasks — staffing for earlier weekend openings and follow-up for the energy assessment — were assigned to the facility manager and S&T Committee for further work and reporting to the board.
