Board approves paraprofessional hire and countywide sixth‑grade trip to San Diego

At its Oct. 16 meeting the Lincoln County School District Board approved several routine items and two specific motions.
Principal Raymond Wadsworth presented Andrea Bradfield as a candidate to fill a part‑time paraprofessional position at Panaca Elementary; Trustee Ann Smith moved to approve the hire and the motion carried.
Wadsworth also described a countywide sixth‑grade historical trip to San Diego planned for March 26–29, 2025 that may require two buses. The trip itinerary includes visits to the USS Midway and a service project at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Wadsworth said students would research 26 Congressional Medal of Honor recipients whose headstones are at Fort Rosecrans, locate and clean headstones and present findings as part of the project; the board approved trip costs including drivers, buses and fuel.
The board also approved consent-agenda items including minutes for September meetings, payment of bills, a Class Size Reduction Plan and first-quarter report, vaccination exemptions, a transportation contract for Laura Hughes, winter-sports schedules for Lincoln County High School and Pahranagat Valley High School, the Nevada School Performance Framework report and an E‑rate application to assist with internet access for eligible schools and libraries.
