At its July 13 meeting, the Village of Belgium board took several administrative actions: it tabled a recommendation to hire a temporary interim building inspector, approved a letter of support for a Quick Trip (QuickTrip) grant application for electric vehicle infrastructure, and voted to convene a closed session to negotiate terms of a developer's agreement with ANSI Development Corporation related to the Lincoln Woods subdivision.
Finance and Personnel had recommended hiring a temporary interim building inspector after staff reported that Roger (the regular building inspector) experienced a medical emergency and was temporarily unavailable. At the meeting the Chair reported Roger has returned and "has retaken over duties," and Rosie asked that the matter be tabled until the next meeting. The board officially moved to table the recommendation; the motion passed.
The board then considered a request from Quick Trip for a letter of support for the Wisconsin Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program to facilitate a potential EV charging station in the village. Chair said the village had supported a similar request previously; the board voted to sign the letter of support.
Finally, the chair moved that the board convene in closed session pursuant to "section 19 dot 85 1 e of the Wisconsin statute" to deliberate or negotiate terms of a developer's agreement with ANSI Development Corporation regarding the Lincoln Woods subdivision. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members recorded as 'aye.' The chair announced the live stream would end for the closed session.
Next steps: The inspector-hiring matter will return to the board at the next meeting; staff will transmit the letter of support to Quick Trip and will proceed to closed session negotiations with ANSI Development Corporation as authorized.
