Huron Valley board votes 5–1 to name new middle school 'Highland Middle School'

The board president read the resolution and background materials explaining that the school sits in Highland Township and that the name honors the legacy of a former Highland Middle School. Vice President Cotter moved the resolution and Mr. Wiseman supported it. During discussion one board member said they would vote no because they believed the community should have a say and objected to reusing a former middle school name; another member said they had received no community concerns and felt comfortable approving the name.
On the roll-call vote the board approved the resolution with five votes in favor and one opposed. The board president declared the motion passed.
