Huron Valley Schools introduces three internal administrative hires; new principals outline priorities

The Huron Valley Schools Board of Education on July 14 introduced three internal administrative hires and heard brief remarks from each.
Debbie Talon, who said, "My name is Debbie Talon, and I am the principal of Country Oaks Elementary School," told the board she is excited to return to the school she attended as a child and described a vision of "a culture of unity and harmony" in which "every teacher, staff member, parent, and student knows that principal Talon has their back." She invited families to a community event, "Popsicles with Principal Talon," scheduled Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the Country Oaks playground.
Steve Digsby, introduced by the superintendent as the new principal of Milford High School, said he is "very appreciative of being in this role" and credited community support and district investment in staff development for his career path. Connie Gilbert, named associate director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, reflected on her years in Huron Valley Schools and emphasized student-centered curriculum leadership.
Superintendent remarks preceding the introductions congratulated staff and highlighted Dr. Sarah Fraza's recently completed doctorate in special education.
The introductions were presented during the superintendent communication portion of the meeting and required no board vote. The board moved on to consent, budget and construction items later in the evening.
