Premier Lakes: compressor sound level reduced but tone remains; Edgewater plantings delayed

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes briefed the River Ridge CDD board on lake conditions and maintenance on July 23, 2024. Kurth said the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good shape but that algae growth had been observed given the time of year. He reported that a cabinet installed around the Masters Lake compressor reduced the measured sound level from 64 to 52 decibels "which, in his opinion, is acceptable."
Operations Manager Shane Willis said the remaining issue is not the decibel level but the "tone" of the aerator, and that the District should consider moving the compressor. Willis will coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth to explore relocating the compressor and will report findings at the next meeting.
Chair Bob Schultz summarized additional water-management issues in the Edgewater community, including flooding, piping and the potential use of littorals and rip-rap on Lake E-4A. The Board reached consensus that Canna lilies should not be planted and decided to delay plantings in Lake E4-A until an agreement is reached with the Edgewater Association; staff will resubmit a revised planting proposal when appropriate.
