Council members pressed for an installation schedule and cost estimates for trenching and electrical service so the city would not be left with fabricated signs that cannot be powered.
Mr. Rach warned that without a schedule or an electrical plan the city risks receiving signs that cannot be electrified; Mrs. Sax urged tabling until the city had a full project package. Others, including Mr. King and Mrs. Weiss, favored moving forward with fabrication to avoid further delay and asked the administration to obtain at least two bids for the electrical work and provide Council with recommendations. The Mayor said Guide Studio is the project manager and the city will work with them on the electrical piece.
MOTION by Mrs. Weiss, seconded by Mr. King, to accept Ellet Sign Company’s bid for the signage project (amount not to exceed $72,648). The motion carried with five ayes and two nays (Mrs. Sax and Mr. Rach). Council requested that the administration report back with electrical scope, recommended vendors and a schedule before the next meeting.
