Rogersville aldermen approve routine bills, award mowing contract and hear multiple rezoning denials

The Rogersville Board of Aldermen convened April 6 at 6:50 p.m. and handled routine municipal business before adjourning at approximately 7:30 p.m.
The board approved general-fund accounts payable of $30,937.94, water/sewer accounts payable of $14,143.17 and park expenses of $910.47, for a total of $45,991.58 on a motion by Alderman Pyle seconded by Alderman Stucki. The meeting minutes record 34 citizens present in the chamber.
In procurement business, the board reviewed four mowing bids (Sunrise, Simmerman, Coba and Lawnscapes); Coba withdrew and one bidder lacked required insurance/OSHA documentation. On a motion by Alderman Pyle, seconded by Alderman Jeff Lee, the board awarded the mowing contract to Sunrise.
Administrator Chad Bybee reported several operations updates: the public works director passed a first wastewater license; striping contractors are being contacted for Center Street and the Leabrooke subdivision; right-of-way appraisals for Mooney Street are underway; and Center Street sidewalk design is nearly complete.
Later in the meeting the board considered three rezoning ordinances (Bills 04062026A, B and C). Each was proposed for first and second readings and failed on roll-call votes after discussion and input from Planning and Zoning. The board adjourned after completing the agenda.
