Pulaski council approves property transfers, reappoints planning commissioner and appropriates senior center funds

The Town of Pulaski council voted Tuesday to approve a package of routine actions, including an ordinance authorizing the sale of small town-owned parcels to adjoining property owners and two resolutions that reappointed a planning commissioner and allocated funds to the senior center.

The council approved Ordinance 2025-04 after a brief public hearing on the proposal to convey small portions of town land identified on Pulaski County tax maps as parcel IDs 63-1-219, 63-1-220 and 63-42-1 to adjoining owners. Town staff said the transfers are intended to correct boundary encroachments and that land value per acre was set by the county and converted to square-foot costs for the conveyances. The mayor opened the public hearing and, with no members of the public signed in to speak, the council moved directly to the vote.

The council also adopted Resolution 2025-34 reappointing Connor Compton to the Town of Pulaski Planning Commission and approved Resolution 2025-35 appropriating funds for the Pulaski Senior Center and the Virginia fire program.

All three measures were moved and approved by roll call during the meeting. The roll-call sequence as read during the meeting included Mr. Clark, Ms. Cope, Mr. Dawson, Mr. Klontz, Mr. Erickson, Mr. Burchett and Mayor Collins, each recorded as voting "Aye." The motions were announced from the floor and supported by second motions as recorded in the meeting minutes.

The council’s next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 7, 2025, with a closed session at 6 p.m. and open session at 7 p.m.
