Trappe, Md. — The Trappe Town Council on Jan. 7 approved a reimbursable grant agreement with the Little League to support construction of a new softball field at Home Run Baker Park after Talbot County Council signed the joint‑use agreement.
Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan told the council the county had approved and signed the joint‑use agreement and that the town now needs a reimbursable grant agreement with the Little League to spell out responsibilities and how grant funds will be administered. "They have reviewed the agreement and are ready to move forward with it," Little League President Nick Newnam told the council. President Newnam moved to approve the reimbursable grant agreement; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
During the public comment period, property owner Brian Endzel asked how he could connect his Piney Hill Road property — inside town limits but currently on a septic system — to town sewer should his septic fail. Town Attorney Ryan advised that Mr. Endzel would be financially responsible to install a sewer main from the nearest connection point and that questions about his septic system should be directed to the Talbot County Health Department.
Resident Cheryl Lewis reported the fire department received federal grant funding for a new firehouse, is obtaining permits and continues local fundraising.
The council adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
