She said the initial setup cost is about $15,000 and annual maintenance about $10,000 and that the cost is already included in her office’s existing budget.
Wingler told the council the product can integrate with the county’s existing map and would preserve confidential property-status flags so that certain records remain hidden to the public while visible to staff. She said the product includes an option to file appeals online — an important feature for her office as she has recorded roughly 150 appeals this year — and that the service includes links to the Department of Local Government and Finance for taxpayers who need additional information.
Council members asked about accommodations for residents without internet access and Wingler said a mailed notice with the tax bill and the option to request paper copies will remain available. One councilor noted the program could reduce mailing costs and staff workload; Wingler said the vendor product would likely pay for itself in one to two years by reducing the costs of mailing form 11 notices.
