Orangeville council adopts Resolution 2026-2 to raise culinary water rate 80¢ following special service district increase

Orangeville City Council voted Feb. 19 to adopt Resolution 2026-2, amending the city's water and sewer fee schedules to reflect a rate increase passed through from the Castle Valley Special Service District.
Amanda, a city staff member who presented the item, told the council: "So it's that time of year, where we increased water rates. Special service district had to raise it more than what we normally rate it at ... So this year, culinary will go up 80¢. And then everything else is set to the normal 2% rate." The council moved to approve the resolution, the motion was seconded and the chair recorded a unanimous voice vote in favor.
The measure was presented as a passthrough adjustment to cover the special district's higher charge to the city rather than a policy change initiated by council. Staff said the adjustment mirrors the special service district increase and applies a 2% routine increase to other fee lines.
No public testimony or substantive amendment was offered during council discussion. The council approved the resolution and the chair declared the motion passed.
The council did not set an effective date in the discussion recorded on the agenda; any implementation date will follow the city's standard notification and billing schedule, staff said they would handle the administrative steps.
