On public art, members discussed a lighted artwork donation connected to a visiting delegation. Committee members said the Board of Public Works will handle on-site installation (poles, lighting and landscaping) and that fabrication and installation timelines suggest the project could be about a year out. Members emphasized adding explanatory signage or a plaque and coordinating a ribbon-cutting so the sister-city connection is visible to the public.
Members also noted that reciprocal gifts are commonly expected and suggested brainstorming appropriate items a Portsmouth delegation could present; no final choice was made. The committee agreed to monitor installation timing and to coordinate with the parks department and mayor’s office about scheduling and invitations.
