Finance director Miss Rampey told the board that the governor signed the state budget on July 7, which includes an average 8% pay increase for certified staff and a 3% increase for non‑certified staff, along with other one‑time bonuses.
Rampey cautioned that the district must wait for DPI to release technical corrections and initial allocations — expected by the end of the month — before it can calculate how much state dollars will cover and what local matching, if any, will be required. She said certified employees are typically paid from state allotments while many classified and locally funded positions rely on federal or local dollars, so the district must compute the fiscal impact before posting payroll changes.
Board members asked for clarity on timing and impact for veteran teachers, and administrators said the state increase is percentage‑based and interacts with the district’s longevity supplements; staff will run numbers with the finance committee to identify options for supporting veteran employees. Rampey also said insurance billing for recent hurricane damage is closed out with an expected ~ $700,000 reimbursement and FEMA doing final reviews.
She warned that the district will not post any bonuses or raises until it receives and reconciles DPI allocations and technical guidance.
