The Milton Board of Commissioners set a public hearing for Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at 7 p.m. at the Jean B. Scott Renaissance Center to consider a request to change the zoning of 77 Broad Street (Tax Number 2002.00.04.008.0000) from Residential (R-1) to Commercial (C-1)/Mixed-Use (MU-1) with conditions to allow a first-floor coffee shop within an existing four-room inn.
Mayor Angela Upchurch read the public notice and provided contact information listed in the notice for questions: mayor@townofmiltonnc.gov and a telephone number. The notice had been posted in the Caswell Messenger and on-site on Feb. 4 and Feb. 11, 2026. The agenda also included a letter from Bettye French opposing the proposed zoning change/conditional use at 77 Broad Street.
The hearing will give the public an opportunity to present comments on the zoning change. The board did not take a vote on the conditional-use request at the March 10 meeting; it only set the hearing date and reminded the public how to submit comments per the published notice.
The town listed the parcel tax number in the notice for reference and encouraged interested parties to contact town staff for more information.
