Glendale preservation staffer Jay to retire next month; deputy Ani to lead work

At the close of the July 16 meeting, a longtime preservation staff member announced his intent to retire next month.
The staff member told the commission, "I will be retiring from the city of Glendale next month," and said he expects to be present for the next HPC hearing before stepping down. Commissioners responded with appreciation for his service and discussed continuity plans: staff indicated Ani (a preservation colleague) is prepared to lead the program with support from planning colleagues, and there is no immediate plan to hire an additional staffer.
Staff and commissioners said they will mark the transition at the next hearing and that case planners in the planning division will continue to support preservation projects during the staffing change. No personnel actions were voted on at the meeting.
