Trappe approves joint-use agreement draft with Talbot County for Home Run Baker Park

Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan reviewed an updated draft joint-use agreement for Home Run Baker Park between the Town of Trappe and Talbot County at the Dec. 3 meeting. Ryan said the county removed language that would have required the town to handle all maintenance and operation. The draft requires both the town and county to keep the park open to the public at reasonable hours and to allow non-discriminatory access.
Ryan told the council the town still needs to develop a plan for how funds will be handled and that a separate agreement with Home Run Baker Park may be necessary to accomplish this. She also said the joint-use agreement must be approved and signed by the Talbot County Council; that approval is expected to be on the county's next agenda. Commissioner Walter Chase moved to approve the joint-use agreement and President Newnam seconded; the council approved unanimously.
Attorney Ryan emphasized that county council approval is required and that the agreement is a condition to receive the funds referenced in the draft.
