Trappe council approves $16,985.96 Comfort Plus HVAC replacement funded from ARPA interest

At the Feb. 4 meeting, the Trappe Town Council approved replacing two HVAC systems — the council room and the administrator’s office — with a multi-zone ductless mini-split system from Comfort Plus at a proposal price of $16,985.96.
Administrator Erin Braband said both existing systems are more than 20 years old and beyond repair and that the town had spent about $2,000 in the prior two weeks attempting repairs to maintain heat. Braband said interest earned in the ARPA fund account is available and could be used to pay for the work.
Commissioner Chase moved to approve Comfort Plus’s proposal and to use interest earned funds from the ARPA account to pay for it. Commissioner Sullivan seconded and the motion was unanimously approved. President Newnam asked the town to seek other companies for any future maintenance contracts.
The council did not provide a timeline for installation or identify a maintenance contractor beyond the approved Comfort Plus proposal.
