Star Valley Ranch to test flow meters as town evaluates stopping chlorination

Town Administrator Aitken told the Star Valley Ranch Town Council on Oct. 8 that the town’s water department will test flow meters at wells and storage tanks and proceed with coliform testing to determine whether the municipality can discontinue routine chlorination.
The testing is intended to provide the operational data the town needs to evaluate treatment choices, Aitken said. He also reported that the WIP 2023 water-infrastructure project has paused for the winter and that Vista Drive (from Vista West to Cedar Creek Drive) will be paved this week.
Why it matters: Ending routine chlorination would change how the town manages treatment and monitoring; council members and staff treated the testing as a necessary step before any change in water-treatment policy.
