Lawmakers urge inclusion of Susan Muffley Act to restore pensions for Delphi salaried retirees

She described a constituent case to illustrate hardship and said the proposed amendment has bipartisan support and prior committee backing. Other members who spoke in favor said the provision would not increase net federal cost and would use recovered plan assets to restore benefits for those salaried retirees.
The committee did not complete action on including the provision in the bill during the hearing; members said they would press for its consideration on the floor.
